Hello, I’m James Janson Young.

I’m the creator of the concept future-gifting and run future-gifting.com

I’m driven by the question: ‘How can we arrange our present to better serve our future?’

Right now, this question feels all the more pressing.

I’ve been researching and writing about the future in various forms for over 20 years. Most recently, I spent over a decade authoring official reports on how the UK Government could improve the way it manages public money in the future. In the late-nineties, I studied Greenlandic ice-cores for clues as to what our future climate might look like. (As a complete aside, I also wrote songs with titles like “Dreaming about tomorrow” for my nineties Indie-band.)

These experiences taught me how to look to the future through the prism of large organisations and on the grandest scale of all: our planet’s climate system.

I’m a keen musician – guitarist, pianist, songwriter and sometime session-musician. I’m a husband and a father. I’m based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
